Constance “Maji” Carter is a giver and guide for the families in her presence. She is a lifelong learner who stands up for what she believes in. She is an author, playwright, unschooling mom-guide, mobile educator, family caregiver, and creative. Constance loves to learn and looks for opportunities to do so in every experience. She learned that living and learning were her calling as a young child and then began moving to the beat of her own spoons. Constance is learning to think of herself as a dream, which diminishes self-built barriers because she believes we can do anything. She does this so that the parents and youth have a living example of freedom in real-time and reminders of joy and possibility. Constance creates spaces for exploration as she and others learn how to live more fully with their hands, heads, and hearts.
Dream for Black Children
“My dream for Black children is that they have freedom in their heart space. Freedom in their minds. Freedom to choose new. Freedom to be kind. Freedom to be safe. Freedom to explore. Freedom to breathe deep. Freedom to be more.”
