Camille Brown-Lowery

Born and raised in Flint, MI, Camille, also known as Cami, is a social scientist and writer. Having grown up in a family of entrepreneurs, activists, and prayer warriors, Camille is inspired by her family’s commitment to helping others. With a love for music and a quiet, observant, and humorous nature, Camille started her journey as an advocate for youth in foster care and the juvenile justice system, focusing on mental health and teaching healthy coping skills to young people.

As a self-described “Googler” Camille is a knowledge seeker, always eager to learn new things and share her wisdom. Over time, her advocacy has evolved from one-on-one support to supporting her children and their friends to trust their voices and take up space. Camille continues to inspire and support those around her through her words of encouragement. Camille believes that we are all beacons of light and can do our part to shine our LIGHT on the world.

Dream for Black Children

“I dream of a world where Black children openly take up space. That children can be children, FREE of the burdens of worry about how much their blackness makes others uncomfortable. They can dream vast and big without the world telling them they have ceilings to shatter. That they are valued for how they see, imagine, and desire to show up in the world.”
